Natalie Hirt Adams is a Senior Lecturer at Duke University’s School of Law and a United States Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Florida. With a career spanning private practice, federal prosecution, and academia, she specializes in criminal law, trial practice, and government investigations. Her role at Duke includes teaching the criminal section of the Trial Practice Seminar.

Judge Adams began her career clerking for federal judges in Florida and the Eleventh Circuit. She worked at WilmerHale in Washington, DC, focusing on pro bono work and client representation in court and Congress. Subsequently, she served for a decade as a federal prosecutor in Tampa, earning the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award. Later, she returned to private practice as a partner at Bradley Arant Boult & Cummings and Foley & Lardner, representing clients in government investigations and litigation.
In 2023, she was appointed a U.S. Magistrate Judge while continuing her academic role as Adjunct Faculty at Duke. Her expertise bridges practical legal advocacy with teaching, emphasizing criminal trial skills.
