Landon J. Ascheman is an Adjunct Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he teaches Criminal Law and Statutory Interpretation. He is also actively engaged with the institution as a Trustee since 2022 and has contributed extensively through student mentorship, moot court judging, and pro bono legal clinic volunteering.
His educational background includes a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and a B.A. from Minnesota State University Moorhead, along with specialized training as an Intelligence Specialist in the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center.
Landon's professional focus centers on criminal defense and public legal service. He provides private criminal defense in Minnesota, serves as a special assistant public defender in Hennepin County, and as a special assistant city prosecutor in Wright County. His deep commitment to justice is reflected in his advocacy for pro bono services and access to justice.
He holds leadership roles in key legal organizations, having chaired criminal law sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, and Ramsey County Bar Association. He previously served for six years on the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board and participated in multiple Minnesota Supreme Court committees.
Landon has been actively involved with Mitchell Hamline since 2010, mentoring first-year students, volunteering with the Self-Help Clinic since 2011, organizing and presenting at CLEs, and serving as an attorney judge in client counseling and moot court competitions.
