Tara Degn

Tara Degn ('12) is an Adjunct Professor at Mitchell Hamline University School of Law, where she teaches Constitutional Powers, Advanced Legal Reasoning, Energy Law, and Environmental Law. She serves as a prosecutor in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, specializing in felony-level drug and gun offenses.

• Former human services judge at Minnesota Department of Human Services
• Previous legal roles in Minnesota Department of Revenue and Minnesota Department of Transportation

Her research interests focus on legal intersections of constitutional law, environmental law, and energy policy. She actively promotes human rights through pro bono work with World Without Genocide and the FBI’s Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section.

Degn chairs the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association board and applies her administrative law expertise in both academic and prosecutorial roles.
