Natalia Nowakowska is Professor of European History at Somerville College, University of Oxford. She specializes in late medieval and early modern Central Europe, examining themes like dynastic legacies, Reformation transformations, and cultural memory through global history frameworks. Her work bridges disciplinary boundaries between political, religious, and conceptual history.
Research Focus: Nowakowska explores the intersection of medieval/modern and East/West divides in European history. Key interests include:
- Central Europe as a contested historical space
- Dynastic identity construction and cultural memory
- Reformation dynamics beyond confessional binaries
- Global approaches to pre-modern statecraft
