Narendra Pathak is a Lecturer and Laboratory Instructor in the Biological Sciences Department at Smith College. He earned his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, and specializes in zebrafish modeling of human disease genes, with a focus on cilia biology, CRISPR technology, and neuroglial development.
Research Interests: Pathak’s work explores how disease-linked genes affect organ development and physiology using zebrafish. His studies span podocyte development, photoreceptor morphogenesis, cilia structure/function, and autism spectrum disorders. His publications highlight collaborations in genetic mutagenesis and developmental signaling pathways.
Publications: His recent work includes studies on DEET interactions with odorant receptors, tubulin modifications in cilia, and Notch signaling in epithelial differentiation. These span topics in neurogenetics, organ development, and molecular biology.
