Naomi Wood is an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. She is a member of the Creative Writing Research Group. Her work focuses on historical settings, biographical angles, and feminist themes, with notable publications including Mrs. Hemingway, The Hiding Game, and the short story collection This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things. Wood teaches prose fiction at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and advises two PhD students. She has received prestigious awards such as the BBC National Short Story Award (2023) and the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize (2015).
Her research explores intersections of art, history, and gender, exemplified by her engagement with the Bauhaus movement and Hemingway’s wives. Wood contributed to the project “Future and Form of Literature” (2020–2021), funded by the Arts Council of England. She has been featured in media outlets like BBC’s Great Lives and Open Book, discussing her work and literary influences.
