Dr. Claire Griffiths is an Assistant Professor and Associate Head of Creative Writing at Northeastern University London, where she also leads the online MA in Contemporary Creative Writing. Her research focuses on discourse analysis, Holocaust Studies, and Scottish-English cultural divides. She holds a PhD from the University of East Anglia (2016), preceded by a First Class BA and MA in Creative Writing.
Her creative work spans flash fiction, novels, and nonfiction, with publications in literary magazines like Vestal Review and Litro Magazine. Notable recognition includes shortlists for the Bridport Prizes and the Bristol Short Story Prize. Dr. Griffiths’ forthcoming novel Lagermuseum draws from her PhD research on art created by Auschwitz prisoners.
Teaching specialties include prose fiction, creative nonfiction, and 21st-century literature. She has taught at multiple institutions including the University of Hull and Brunel University. Current projects include a short-story collection exploring Scottish-English identity divides.
Awards include a UEA PhD Scholarship (2010) and Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (2018). Her research bridges literary analysis with historical trauma studies, emphasizing embodied and geographic narrative frameworks.
