Christy Hallberg is a Teaching Professor in the English Department at East Carolina University (ECU), where she also serves as Senior Associate Editor of the North Carolina Literary Review and editor of Flash Friday USA for Litro Magazine. Her academic career spans roles in education and publishing, with a focus on creative writing, post-WWII literature, and distance education. She holds a B.S. and M.A. from ECU and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Her research explores intersections between pop culture and literature, with notable works including the creative nonfiction essay The Ballad of Evermore (2020 Sequestrum Award finalist) and the short story Aperture (2020 Fiction Southeast Story of the Month).
Teaching responsibilities include courses on post-WWII British/American fiction, creative writing, and professional writing. Her creative output spans fiction, nonfiction, and literary reviews, appearing in journals like Eclectica, STORGY Magazine, and Main Street Rag.
