Professor Naomi Stead is the Interim Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor (Engagement) in the College of Design and Social Context at RMIT University. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary advocacy for social and environmental equity, particularly in creative fields. Key areas include gender equity in architecture, workplace wellbeing, queer theory, and climate crisis responses. She has led major projects such as the ARC-funded 'Architectural Work Cultures' and pioneered initiatives like Parlour for gender equity advocacy. Stead is an award-winning architecture critic for The Saturday Paper and Places Journal, and has co-edited influential books including Queering Architecture (2023) and After the Australian Ugliness (2020). Her work bridges academic research, creative practice, and public engagement through exhibitions, curatorial projects, and policy-informing studies.
