Dr. Nanda Kumar is a Professor at the Jindal School of Management (JSOM) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), specializing in Marketing Strategy and Operations Research. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago (2000), an MS from the University of Maryland (1992), and a BTech from the University of Calcutta, India (1990). His research focuses on channel strategies, retailing dynamics, pricing models, internet advertising, and the impact of IT investments on value creation.
Dr. Kumar’s teaching spans graduate-level courses such as Marketing Management (MKT 6301), Database Marketing (MKT 6323), and Marketing Strategy (MAS 6V05). His work emphasizes competitive pricing strategies, consumer behavior in bundling, and the interplay between technology and marketing channels.
He has received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award (2003) from UTD and an Honorable Mention for the Davidson Award in the Journal of Retailing (2003). His research has been published in top-tier journals, analyzing topics like price matching guarantees, consumer stockpiling behavior, and private label vendor selection in supply chains.
Dr. Kumar is actively involved with professional organizations such as INFORMS (The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences), contributing to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of marketing, operations, and technology.
