Nancy Zaarour is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health under the Medical Sciences Division. She works in Professor Ahmed Ahmed’s group at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, focusing on enhancing T cell immune responses to ovarian cancer for immunopreventive strategies.
Educational Background:
- PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, University of Paris
- Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, University of Oxford
Her research spans understanding the immunology of High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer in the fallopian tube, identifying tumor-targeting T cells, and developing ex vivo approaches to study T cell-malignant cell interactions. She previously studied oxidation stress and ionizing radiation at the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and epigenetic factors in T cell differentiation at the Centre of Immunology in Marseille.
Her work has been supported by Ovarian Cancer Action and Cancer Research UK, leading to preclinical testing of a multipeptide preventive vaccine for ovarian cancer. She supervises DPhil students in translational cancer immunology.
Scientific Awards:
- Elman Poole Non-Stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship (5-year), Lincoln College
