Nancy S. Ypma serves as Professor of Music and Chair of Humanities and Visual and Performing Arts at McKendree University, where she has been faculty since 1988. She also directs the Music Department and holds a dual role as organist and music director at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belleville, Illinois.
Her academic credentials include a D.Mus. and M.Mus. from Northwestern University along with a B.A. in Music from U.C.L.A.
Dr. Ypma specializes in historical music disciplines with focused research in Music History, Church Music History, and Musical Theatre History. As an active concert organist, she performs across the Midwest while contributing to professional development through master classes and competition adjudication.
Her distinguished recognition includes:
