Nancy Reynolds is an Associate Professor of History at Washington University in St. Louis, with affiliate positions in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies and Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies. She holds a PhD from Stanford University and specializes in environmental and social-cultural history of twentieth-century Egypt.
Her research examines the intersection of politics and material culture through built environments, consumer goods, and urban spaces. Key focus areas include decolonization dynamics, nationalist movements, gender politics, and environmental transformations in modern Egypt.
Professor Reynolds has received significant recognition including the Roger Owen Book Award and ACLS Fellowship. She co-founded the Mellon Sawyer Seminar 'Grounding the Ecocritical' and serves on advisory boards including the Art Institute of Chicago.
