Nancy Luxon is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Minnesota, with affiliations in Cultural Studies & Comparative Literature and the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC). Her research in contemporary political and social theory focuses on power, subjectivity, and speech, particularly through psychoanalytic and Foucauldian frameworks.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Political Science from University of California, San Diego
Her work explores the politics of ordinary people and anti-colonial struggles in North Africa and France, examining how marginalized perspectives reshape political principles. Current projects analyze colonial resistance, psychiatric institutions in decolonization, and intersections of psychology/politics in postcolonial societies.
Her publications include the monograph Crisis of Authority and edited volumes of Foucault's archival work. She co-directed the Mellon Sawyer Seminar 'The Politics of Land' (2017-18) and will undertake sabbatical research in France, South Africa, and Germany during 2024-25.
