Dr Nancy Evans is a Lecturer and Course Leader for Sociology at the University of Chester. She serves on the Research Ethics Committee and holds Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research examines social security policy, welfare stigma, and lived experiences of austerity. Recent publications analyze gendered stigma in benefit systems and chronic poverty during cost-of-living crises, using participatory methods with affected communities.
She co-leads Social Justice Chester, producing collaborative research with the West Cheshire Poverty Truth Commission and West Cheshire Foodbank. Projects include exhibitions on poverty narratives and evaluations of food voucher schemes.
