Nadja Durbach is a Professor of History at the University of Utah and co-editor of the Journal of British Studies. Her research focuses on cultural and social history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Britain, particularly the intersection of bodily experiences with state, nation, and empire.
- Education: BA (Honours) in History from University of British Columbia, MA and PhD in History from Johns Hopkins University
Her work explores themes such as identity registration, food politics, vaccination resistance, and the body's role in legal and societal frameworks. Current projects include the book Registration Nation: Identity, Privacy, and the Recording of Persons in Modern Britain.
Recent publications analyze food sovereignty, wartime provisioning, and bodily definitions of life. Awards include the Guggenheim Fellowship, Franklin Research Grant, and multiple teaching and mentoring accolades.
