Prof. Máire Connolly is a Professor of Global Health and Development at the School of Medicine, University of Galway, and a Funded Investigator at the Insight Centre (partner institution). With over €11M in EU research funding since 2015, she leads the H2020 PANDEM project and has implemented international research initiatives funded by EC, ECHO, USAID, DFID, and Irish Aid.

- Masters in Public Health (University College Dublin)
- Diploma in Tropical Medicine (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine)
Her research focuses on applying informatics, modelling, and simulation to public health challenges, including disease surveillance, pandemic preparedness, and humanitarian emergencies. She pioneers participatory surveillance, big data analytics, and visual analytics for outbreak decision-making, alongside game-based learning for pandemic management.
Prof. Connolly has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and WHO technical reports, including three books on communicable diseases in emergencies. Her work spans collaborations with Medtronic and field missions in 15 emergency-affected countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
