Georgia Institute of Technologyمعرفی
Myrsini Mamoli is a Lecturer in Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), specializing in architectural history and computation. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture (2014, Georgia Tech), an M.Sc. in Cultural Technology and Communication (2007, University of the Aegean), and a B.A. in Archaeology and Art History (2004, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Her research focuses on integrating computational methods—such as 3D modeling, shape grammars, and generative algorithms—with historical architectural analysis, particularly ancient Greek and Roman libraries.
Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Art History at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she taught courses on ancient art and architectural history. At Georgia Tech, she collaborates with Dr. Bonna Wescoat and the Emory University excavation team to apply the Shape Machine software for reconstructing the Ionic Porch in Samothrace, using shape grammars to explore archaeological evidence constraints.
Her work bridges archaeology, architecture, and computation, emphasizing formal methods for reconstructing fragmentary artifacts. Key contributions include a shape grammar for ancient libraries, published in Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, and studies on generative urban models inspired by Hellenistic cities.
