Myojung Chung is an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Innovation at Northeastern University. Her research focuses on digital media's role in mis/disinformation and its intersection with policymaking, emphasizing countermeasures to mitigate misinformation's societal impacts. She advises the Harvard Rappaport Institute and Zepeto's Safety Council, and previously worked as a journalist at Yonhap News Agency and in strategic communication in telecommunications.
Her work appears in journals like New Media & Society and Digital Journalism, supported by NSF and the Korea Foundation. She explores information justice in the post-truth era through interventions at the Institute for Rebooting Social Media. Prior academic roles include experience at UN Headquarters and UNESCO.
Recent research highlights sociodemographic factors in algorithmic literacy, advocating for public understanding of algorithm-driven information ecosystems.
