Myojung Chung is an Associate Professor of Journalism and Media Innovation at Northeastern University, specializing in digital media, misinformation, and AI. She holds a Ph.D. from Syracuse University, an M.A. from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Seoul National University. Her research focuses on combating misinformation through AI-driven solutions and understanding media psychology dynamics. Dr. Chung has received top paper awards from ICA, NCA, and AEJMC, and her work is funded by NSF and the Korea Foundation. She currently serves on the Harvard Rappaport Institute board and has been a Rebooting Social Media Visiting Scholar at Harvard Berkman Klein Center (2024-2025) and a U.S.-Korea Next Generation Scholar at CSIS (2022-2023).
Her research integrates professional journalism experience from Yonhap News Agency and strategic communication at SK Telecom, alongside roles at the UN and Korean National Commission to UNESCO. Key interests include algorithmic literacy, media trust, and cross-cultural media dynamics. Recent work explores public perceptions of AI tools like ChatGPT and regulatory approaches to misinformation.
