Mukesh Limbachiya is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Faculty Director for Strategic Partnering and Development at Kingston University's Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment. With over 30 years of experience in higher education, he has held various leadership positions including Faculty Lead for Apprenticeship and Academic Partnerships (2022-present), University Head of Apprenticeships (2018-21), Head of Schools (2023-present, 2009-18), Faculty Lead for International Relations and engagement (2012-15), and Director of Engineering Research (2009-11).
His educational background includes a BE Hons in Civil Engineering, MSc in Structural Engineering, and PhD in Civil Engineering. Professionally, he is a chartered engineer (CEng), fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, member of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, and fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining.
Professor Limbachiya's research focuses on concrete technology advancement, waste materials recycling for reuse, construction materials innovation, smart cities for citizen well-being, and sustainable and resilient built environments. His work has significant practical applications in addressing knowledge and skills gaps through industry collaboration. He has published 15 books/conference proceedings and over 100 peer-reviewed papers with more than 4000 citations, maintaining an h-index of 26 and i10-index of 39.
His recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on sustainable construction materials, particularly recycled aggregates, concrete technology innovations, and structural performance analysis. The research spans practical applications from road construction to seismic-resistant building design, with strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.

Professor Limbachiya has successfully supervised over 50 PhD and post-doctoral researchers throughout his career. His leadership extends to strategic partnerships development, apprenticeship programs, and international collaborations. He serves in key roles including Deputy Chair and Board Member of the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), which coordinates accreditation activities for civil engineering educational programs. His quality assurance work includes external examining, validations, accreditations, and professional reviewing for CEng and Apprenticeship End Point Assessment.
He leads applied research initiatives addressing climate crisis through sustainable construction practices and participates in knowledge transfer activities with industry partners. His work bridges academic research with practical industry applications, particularly in waste material recycling and sustainable concrete technology.
