Morteza Khorami is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering Structural Design at Coventry University's School of The Environment. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). With over two decades of experience, his work spans engineering research, construction innovation, and academic leadership in the UK and Iran.
- Expertise: Geopolymer concrete, cement composites, corrosion mitigation, structural design optimization, asbestos replacement.
- Key Projects: Principal Investigator for asbestos-free fiber cement board development in Iran, ICURe grant recipient for low-CO₂ cement blends.
- Publications: Over 80 outputs including books, patents, and peer-reviewed articles on sustainable concrete and material innovation.
His research focuses on sustainable construction materials, with a strong emphasis on reducing environmental impact through calcined clays, recycled fibers, and alternative binders. Recent work explores thermal performance of lightweight concrete and durability of blended cement systems.
Scientific contributions include pioneering studies on fiber-reinforced composites and corrosion-resistant concrete. He has served as Guest Editor for journals and actively collaborates with industry partners on structural design and material optimization.
