Professor Morven McEachern is a Professor of Sustainability and Marketing Ethics at the Chester Business School, University of Chester. She holds a faculty position in the Department of Marketing, Tourism & Destinations, within the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise. Her research focuses on sustainable/ethical production and consumption, particularly in food systems, place, and the impacts of austerity and poverty. She is fluent in Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic.
Her academic contributions include co-editing Researching Poverty and Austerity: Theoretical Approaches, Methodologies and Policy Applications (Routledge, 2023) and contributing to the Handbook of Marketing Ethics (Sage, 2021). She has secured a British Academy/Leverhulme Grant and actively engages in interdisciplinary research addressing poverty, food insecurity, and ethical consumption.
Her teaching includes modules on research methods (BU7040), business dissertations (BU7501), and sustainability across postgraduate programs. She supervises PhD/MRes/DBA students in areas like sustainability ethics, food poverty, and place-based consumption.
Recent research highlights include exploring embodiment in natural spaces, food insecurity among ethnic minorities, and the role of food aid organizations in urban poverty. Her work bridges theory and practice, influencing policy and industry through empirical studies and collaborative frameworks.
Professional activities include editorial roles, conference organization (e.g., Academy of Marketing), and event participation focused on food security and consumer resilience. She is affiliated with the University's Culture and Society, Sustainability and Environment, and Health and Wellbeing Research and Knowledge Exchange Institutes.
