Mortimer Sellers is a Regents Professor at the University System of Maryland and Director of the Center for International & Comparative Law at the University of Baltimore School of Law. His work spans international law, comparative law, constitutional law, legal history, and philosophy of law.
- Education: J.D. from Harvard University, B.C.L. (Philosophy of Law) and D.Phil. (Literae Humaniores) from Oxford University, and A.B. from Harvard University.
Sellers is a co-editor for multiple Cambridge University Press book series, including ASIL Studies in International Legal Theory and ASCL Studies in Comparative Law. He also co-edits the IVR Encyclopedia of the Philosophy of Law and the International Encyclopedia of Comparative Law (2nd ed.).
Awards
- H.L.A. Hart Fellow in Jurisprudence
He has practiced law in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., served as a clerk for Judge James Hunter III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and held visiting positions at Oxford University, Cambridge University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Academy of International Law in The Hague, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, and Georgetown University Law Center.
