Morten Hertzum is a Professor at Roskilde University's Department of People and Technology, specializing in Digital Technologies and Welfare. He holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from the University of Copenhagen. His career includes roles as Professor of Information Science at the University of Copenhagen (2014–2022) and Associate Professor at Roskilde University (2003–2014).
Education: PhD in Computer Science (1992–94), M.Sc. in Computer Science (1985–91), minor in Cultural Sociology (1986–88), and Mathematics studies (1985–88), all from the University of Copenhagen.
Research focuses on human-computer interaction, healthcare IT, usability, and participatory design. Notable contributions include studies on technostress in healthcare, EHR implementation challenges, and user experience in workplace systems. He serves on editorial boards of journals like International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Research.
Key awards include the IMIA Best Paper Award (2008) and OZCHI Steve Howard Award (2014). Active in academic service, he has organized conferences like ECSCW and GROUP, and participated in program committees for CHIIR and PDC.
Current projects include DICO (2025–2026), eMM (2021–2026), and REAL (2021–2025), focusing on healthcare IT, medication reconciliation, and sustainable human-work interaction designs.
