Morten Fjeld is a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bergen (Norway) and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). He leads WP4 in the SFI MediaFutures initiative and is a cluster leader in the Wallenberg AI program. His research focuses on tangible interaction, tabletop computing, and AR/VR applications in industrial and healthcare contexts.
Education:
- Dual MSc in Applied Mathematics from NTNU (Norway) and ENSIMAG (France)
- PhD in Computer Science from ETH Zurich (Switzerland)
Research Interests: Dr. Fjeld's work spans Human-Computer Interaction, Augmented Reality, and Robotics Interaction. He pioneered the t2i Interaction Lab and has developed novel interaction techniques for industrial tomography, collaborative systems, and drone-human interfaces. His recent work explores emotion-aware voice assistants and AR applications in complex decision-making scenarios.

- Secured over 15 international grants including Horizon 2020 MSCA actions
- Founded the ACM ISS conference series and chaired VRST 2017
- Leadership roles in ACM CHI and IEEE conferences
Labs & Teams: His t2i Interaction Lab collaborates internationally, with projects at ETH Zurich, Tohoku University, and NUS Singapore. Current focus areas include adaptive systems for dementia care and AI-driven moderation tools for political discourse analysis.
