Mook Bangalore is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Policy at the Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on the intersection of environment and development, particularly examining how households in the Global South are impacted by environmental changes and climate crises. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (Department of Geography and Environment and the Grantham Research Institute). Prior to Penn State, he conducted postdoctoral research at UC-Santa Barbara and Princeton University’s High Meadows Environmental Institute.
His work spans poverty reduction strategies, climate resilience, and the socioeconomic impacts of natural disasters. Key areas of study include child stunting linked to climate change, disaster risk exposure for vulnerable populations, and policy interventions for sustainable agriculture. Recent projects analyze food price dynamics, household vulnerability to heat stress, and the role of soil fertility in poverty alleviation.
Bangalore has contributed to high-impact publications in journals like Environment and Development Economics and Environmental Health Perspectives. He is affiliated with the Penn State Climate Consortium and the Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE), emphasizing collaborative climate solutions.
