Shaikh Eskander is an Assistant Professor of Climate Policy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and a Visiting Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute (LSE) and the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy (CCCEP). He holds a PhD in Environmental Economics from the University of Wyoming (2015) and an MA in Economics from Carleton University (2010).
His research spans climate policy, environmental economics, and development economics, focusing on climate legislation impacts, natural disaster adaptation, gender disparities in climate risk, and sustainable resource management. Recent publications analyze firm-level adaptation behavior in Africa, net-zero policy synergies, and household responses to climate disasters.
