Colin Baines

Colin Baines serves as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science. He currently leads ESG and net zero stewardship at Border to Coast Pension Partnership, leveraging over 20 years of expertise in sustainable finance, climate policy, and advocacy across institutions including Friends Provident Foundation, Co-operative Bank, and Co-operative Asset Management.

His research focuses on the just transition to a net zero economy, emphasizing sustainable investment strategies, ESG integration, and energy system transformation. He actively contributes to the Just Transition Finance Lab and previously advised the LSE Grantham Research Institute's 'Financing a Just Transition' programme, bridging finance, climate science, and social equity.

Baines has served on advisory groups for the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research (University of Manchester), Birkbeck College, Impact Investing Institute, and the Department of Energy and Climate Change. He also holds positions on the Impact and Investment Committee and as former Non-Executive Director at Snowball Impact Management.
