معرفی
Dr. Monte Gates is a Senior Lecturer in Medicine & Neuroscience at Keele University, affiliated with the School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy. His research focuses on neural development, Parkinson’s disease, and brain repair mechanisms.
- Education: BS in Experimental Psychology, BA in Philosophy (Austin Peay State University); PhD in Anatomy and Neurobiology (University of Tennessee).
Research Interests span the development and repair of neural circuits in the central nervous system. He employs proteomics, cell culture, and in vivo models to investigate dopamine neuron biology, motor circuitry development, and novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. His lab has developed innovative devices for neural transplantation and studies molecular changes in aging and degenerating brains.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary work ranging from Parkinson’s disease therapies using magnetic nanoparticles to historical anatomical studies on Viking torture practices. Recent articles emphasize directional neurite growth, dopaminergic neuron sub-phenotyping, and proteomic biomarkers in aging.
