Monika Komsta is a Professor at the Department of the History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. She holds a PhD (2005) and habilitation (2016) in philosophy. Her research focuses on late antiquity philosophy, Roman Stoicism (Seneca, Epictetus), Peripatetic school (Alexander of Aphrodisias), and Aristotelian commentators like Themistius and Simplicius.
Key achievements include her monograph Themistius: The Twilight of Peripatetic Psychology (2016) and peer-reviewed articles on Neoplatonic synthesis, ancient psychology, and philosophical commentaries. She organizes academic events like the Open Seminar named after Father Professor Andrzej Maryniarczyk and serves as editor-in-chief for Speculum Philosophiae Graecae and Speculum Media Aevi series.
Her work bridges ancient philosophical traditions with contemporary analysis, emphasizing textual interpretation and doctrinal continuity across late antiquity. Active in academic governance, she participates in habilitation commissions and national scientific organizations like the Polish Society of Thomas Aquinas.
