Dr. hab. Anna Palusińska is an Assistant Professor at the Department of the History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Her research focuses on Byzantine philosophy, Christian mysticism, and the theory of icons. She obtained her habilitation in 2018 with the dissertation "Hierarchy and Participation as Philosophical Categories of Icon Theory" and earned her PhD in 2004 for "The Theory of the Icon in St. Theodore the Studite and St. Nicephorus and Its Philosophical Sources" under Prof. IE Zieliński OFM Conv.
Her scholarly work spans late antique and Byzantine philosophical traditions, with particular emphasis on thinkers such as John Philoponus, Michael Psellos, Nicholas of Methone, and Gregory Palamas. She has contributed extensively to the Universal Encyclopedia of Philosophy and serves as scientific editor for the Speculum Philosophiae Graecae and Speculum Maedii Aevii publication series.
Dr. Palusińska's 15 most recent publications (2003-2024) explore intersections between Hesychasm, iconology, and Christian anthropology. She has received the Bronze Medal for Long Service (2022) and organized the Lublin Open Seminar (2013). Her editorial contributions include Annals of Philosophy and participation in international conferences like the St. Gregory Palamas Seminar in Romania.
