Dr. Monika Amsler is a Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Ancient History and the Classical Tradition at the University of Bern's Institute of History. Her research focuses on the intersection of late antique religious texts, medical practices, and literary culture, with a particular emphasis on the Babylonian Talmud and intertextuality. She explores topics such as Talmudic medical recipes, magical practices, and the material culture of late antiquity, including incantation bowls and manuscripts.
Her work bridges disciplines like religious studies, medical history, and book culture, analyzing how knowledge was constructed and transmitted across textual and ritual practices.
