Monica Taljaard is a Senior Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) and a Full Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from Western University (2006). Her research focuses on methodological advancements in cluster randomized trials, longitudinal data analysis, and quasi-experimental designs, with an emphasis on improving trial design, analysis, and ethical considerations.
Dr. Taljaard has published over 500 peer-reviewed articles and secured more than $200M in research funding. She has supervised over 70 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Her work bridges biostatistics, epidemiology, and implementation science, collaborating with clinicians and researchers across disciplines to enhance clinical and health services research.
Her research interests include missing data methodologies, clinical prediction rules, and provider profiling. She contributes to the Ottawa Methods Center and the Centre for Implementation Research, advancing evidence-based practices in healthcare. Dr. Taljaard teaches biostatistics in the University of Ottawa’s MSc program and actively participates in knowledge translation initiatives to improve healthcare delivery.
