Donna Spiegelman is the Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Biostatistics at Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), with secondary appointments in Statistics and Data Science, and Medicine (Cardiovascular). She leads the Center for Methods in Implementation and Prevention Science (CMIPS) and directs Yale Cancer Center’s Global Oncology program. Her expertise spans biostatistics, epidemiology, and implementation science. She holds a ScD from Harvard in Biostatistics and Epidemiology (1989), an MS in Biostatistics (1985), and a BA in Psychology (1977).
Research interests include implementation science, causal inference, measurement error correction, and public health interventions. Key projects focus on optimizing clinical trials (e.g., LAGO design), cancer stigma reduction, and global health equity. She has authored over 500 publications and pioneered statistical methods for mediation analysis and pragmatic trial design.
Notable awards include Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers designation (2018–2021) and Yale’s Team Science Award (2022). She advises on global health initiatives and mentors PhD students in implementation science and biostatistics. Her leadership roles include directing CMIPS and co-directing Global Oncology at Yale Cancer Center.
Current projects include evaluating PrEP service delivery models in Tanzania and assessing spillover effects in network randomized trials. She collaborates internationally on maternal health, HIV prevention, and cardiovascular disease epidemiology.
