Monica DeMasi, MD, FAAFP serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University and a core faculty member at the Providence Family Medicine Residency Program in Portland, Oregon. She also maintains an affiliation as a Faculty Affiliate with Harvard Medical School.
Dr. DeMasi earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Case Western Reserve University, with a focus on medical anthropology and primary care, and completed her family medicine residency at Brown University in 2006.
Her research and professional interests center on primary care, medical education, population health, quality improvement, planetary health, and health equity. Clinically, she specializes in preventative care, women’s health, LGBTIA+ health, and special needs pediatrics, with a strong commitment to serving underserved and immigrant populations, enhanced by her fluency in Spanish and Portuguese.
Dr. DeMasi holds significant leadership roles: she leads the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine's DEI Curriculum Toolkit project and co-leads its Planetary Health Collaborative. She also serves on the Oregon Practice Based Research Network board and the Oregon Medical Association's Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

In her role at the residency program, Dr. DeMasi leads medical student education and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism efforts, and is developing curricula in community health, physician leadership, and health systems education.
