Dr. Colette Kirchhoff is a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and serves as the Founding Clinical Director (FCM) of the WWAMI Medical Education Program in Montana. She is a board-certified family physician with expertise in hospice palliative care, holistic medicine, and planetary health. Dr. Kirchhoff received her M.D. from the University of Illinois and completed residency at Northwestern University, where she served as Chief Resident. She has maintained an active family medicine practice in Bozeman, Montana, for 23 years and has been Medical Director of Eden Hospice for 19 years.
Her academic roles include teaching medical students, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Previously, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Keck School of Medicine, USC, and Co-Chair of the University of Washington School of Medicine Planetary Health Workgroup. She teaches a Fieldcourse on Ethnobotany and Medicinal Herbs and actively promotes wellness, equity, and medical advocacy. Dr. Kirchhoff is bilingual in Spanish and has contributed to rural health initiatives in Tula, Mexico, for seven years.
Her research and professional interests span holistic healthcare practices, planetary health sustainability, and improving access to care for underserved populations. She has received recognition as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).
