Mona Vintilă is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Western University of Timișoara (UVT), Romania. She is a medical doctor and a leading academic in health psychology and systemic family therapy. She teaches core courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Neuropsychology, Genetics of Human Behavior, Psychosexology, Family Psychology, Psychological Counseling, and Psychopharmacology.
She directs the Master’s Program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and serves as PhD Coordinator in the Doctoral School of Psychology, specializing in health psychology. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and research, with a strong focus on family dynamics in chronic illness and mental health.

Her research interests center on health psychology, particularly how chronic diseases affect couples and families. Key areas include dyadic coping in diabetes, cancer, and heart disease; the impact of child illness on parental relationships; effects of menopause and infertility on couples; body image and eating disorders in the context of modern media; and internet addiction's influence on sexual and family life. She develops intervention programs based on systemic family therapy to enhance family communication, reduce stress, and improve quality of life.
Her recent publications reflect a consistent focus on stress, wellbeing, family dynamics, and health behaviors across the lifespan. Themes include stress in educators, rural-urban differences in women’s stress, communication in adolescent relationships, and health awareness in the elderly. Her methodological approach combines clinical insight with empirical research, often in cross-cultural or community-based settings.
Mona Vintilă has contributed significantly to academic literature through ISI and BDI-indexed articles, books, and book chapters. She has authored or co-authored multiple publications on premature birth, mental health, psychosexology, and educational psychology. Her books include titles on sexology, neuropsychology, and mental health.
She has actively participated in and coordinated European-level research projects, demonstrating strong leadership in collaborative science. Her work in academic training includes guiding students in thesis writing and developing pedagogical materials for early childhood education and adult learning.
Dr. Vintilă leads or contributes to research teams focused on family therapy interventions, chronic illness adaptation, and health behavior change.
