Mona Frey holds the position of Researcher at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), affiliated with the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation and the Department of Kinesiology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics and Recreation (Co-op) in 2018. Her research focuses on spine biomechanics, lumbar kinematics, and ergonomics, particularly investigating seated posture effects and low back pain mechanisms. She has maintained involvement with Dr. Diana De Carvalho's biomechanics lab since her co-op term, contributing to both experimental and analytical research projects.
Education: BSc in Kinesiology (2018), Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Research interests include biomechanical analysis of spinal motion, validation of motion capture systems, and ergonomic interventions to mitigate musculoskeletal disorders. Her work bridges clinical biomechanics with engineering solutions, aiming to improve workplace and daily living postures.
Key research areas include: motion capture technology validation, low back pain diagnostics, and the impact of seating design on spinal loading. Recent work emphasizes systematic reviews and meta-analyses to establish methodological standards in biomechanical measurements.
Labs/Teams: Active contributor to Dr. De Carvalho's biomaterials and biomechanics research group at MUN, focusing on translational research between clinical and engineering domains.
