Molly McKinnon is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Special Education at Bethel University, where she teaches the SPED 661 course and serves as a student teacher supervisor. She currently holds a dual role as Director overseeing the TAP (Transition and Access Program) and the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center at North Dakota State University. Her career spans 25 years in education, including 4 years as a K-12 Special Education Itinerant teacher for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, 16 years as a classroom teacher for students with moderate/severe cognitive disabilities, and 5 years as an adjunct professor.
Education background includes a B.A. in Elementary Education from Minot State University (2002), M.A. in Special Education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead (2004), Specialist Degree in Special Education Leadership (2019), and Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership (2023).
Research interests focus on inclusive education practices, support systems for students with disabilities, and teacher preparation. She actively contributes to professional organizations including the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and serves on the ARC of Minnesota advisory board.
Awards highlight her teaching excellence, including the 2016 Horizon Middle School Teacher of the Year. Her work emphasizes equitable education practices, reflecting her belief that 'fairness means everyone gets what they need.'
