Moira Lewitt

Moira Lewitt is a Professor at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), based in the School of Health and Life Sciences, Department of Interprofessional Learning and Practice. She holds a PhD from The University of Sydney (1990) and a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Dundee (2008). Her career spans clinical practice as a Consultant Physician and Head of Diagnostic Endocrinology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, followed by roles at Karolinska Institutet as a Visiting Professor and Senior Researcher (docent in Endocrinology).

Her research focuses on insulin-like growth factor systems in health/disease, interprofessional learning for healthcare practice, and healthcare ethics. Awards include a Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Career Development Award and an RD Wright Research Fellowship. She collaborates with organizations in education, healthcare, and bioscience to advance interdisciplinary research and practice.

Recent publications highlight dual expertise: biomarker studies in aging/adiposity and innovations in medical education. She actively seeks PhD candidates and emphasizes collaborative, practice-oriented scholarship aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
