Dr. Mohammed Nurul Amin is a Researcher in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His work focuses on carbohydrate chemistry, vaccine development, and glycobiology, with a particular emphasis on glycoconjugate vaccines targeting bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella, Klebsiella, and Pseudomonas. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Institute of Human Virology and Center for Vaccine Development (CVD), as well as Saitama University and RIKEN in Japan.
Dr. Amin earned his B.Sc. (Honors) in Chemistry from the University of Chittagong (2000), M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (2002), and Ph.D. in Carbohydrate Chemistry from Saitama University (2007). His research integrates chemical synthesis, bioconjugation, and structural biology to design vaccines and study antibody-epitope interactions.
His research interests span glycan isolation/characterization, synthetic glycopeptides for HIV antibody studies, and marine glycobiology involving oyster galectins. He employs advanced techniques like HPLC, NMR spectroscopy, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for binding studies.
