Mohammad Faizan Zahid, M.D., serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and is a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology within the School of Medicine. His clinical expertise centers on malignant hematology, with specialization in leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other plasma cell disorders, particularly focusing on innovative treatment strategies for patients ineligible for stem cell transplantation.
Dr. Zahid completed his medical education at Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan, followed by an internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow. He holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
His research program investigates the molecular pathophysiology of hematologic malignancies, with emphasis on cytogenetic abnormalities, treatment resistance mechanisms, and novel therapeutic approaches for myelodysplastic syndromes and plasma cell disorders. Dr. Zahid's work bridges clinical practice and translational research to address unmet needs in high-risk and relapsed patients.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a consistent focus on leukemia and lymphoma genomics, therapeutic innovation in plasma cell disorders, and clinical management challenges in resource-limited settings. His research demonstrates particular strength in identifying molecular targets and developing risk-adapted treatment strategies for hematologic malignancies.
Dr. Zahid has received recognition for his teaching excellence, including UT Southwestern’s Undergraduate Medical Education Outstanding Fellow Teaching Award in 2023. He actively contributes to academic discourse as a reviewer for BMJ Case Reports.
