Robert H. Collins Jr.

Robert H. Collins Jr. serves as Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, holding the Sydney and J.L. Huffines Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research and the H. Lloyd and Willye V. Skaggs Professorship in Medical Research. He directs both the Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy Program and the Combined Adult/Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Program.

Dr. Collins earned his medical and bachelor's degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, completed internal medicine residency at Baylor University Medical Center, and received hematology/oncology fellowship training at UCLA. Board-certified in medical oncology, he maintains 35 years of clinical experience with over 3,000 autologous and allogeneic transplants.

His research focuses on hematologic malignancies including leukemia, lymphoma, and myelodysplastic syndrome, with international leadership in adoptive immunotherapy and molecular-targeted therapy. He has pioneered donor leukocyte infusion studies through a 100+ center network and participated in dozens of clinical trials investigating novel transplantation approaches.

Dr. Collins has published more than 150 articles in premier journals including The Lancet, JAMA, NEJM, Blood, and Journal of Clinical Oncology, with research trends emphasizing translational immunotherapy and precision medicine for blood cancers.

His major recognitions include:

As an active clinician-educator, Dr. Collins supervises medical students, residents, and fellows at UT Southwestern Medical School while maintaining membership in the American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
