Professor Mohamed El-Sioufi is an Adjunct Professor (Research) in the Department of Architecture at Monash University, specializing in sustainable urban development, housing, and slum upgrading. With over 40 years of experience, he has held roles at the UN-HABITAT as a Senior Human Settlements Advisor, advising governments globally on urban governance, environmental planning, and post-crisis recovery. His research focuses on informal settlements through initiatives like the Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) program, which integrates green infrastructure to improve sanitation and flood mitigation. He advises urban programs in Sweden, Germany, and Egypt, and supervises graduate research in informal urbanism. Notably, he received recognition for the RISE Demonstration Site project in Makassar.
