Dr. Meredith Dobbie is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Architecture at Monash University, affiliated with the Monash Architecture program. She holds a PhD in Landscape Architecture from the University of Melbourne and has extensive experience in urban water governance, landscape aesthetics, and community engagement. Her research focuses on water-sensitive urban design, environmental perception, and sustainable infrastructure in both developed and global south contexts.

Research Interests: Water-sensitive urban design, landscape aesthetics, community perceptions of green infrastructure, and sustainable urban development. Key projects include the Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) initiative and studies on raingarden acceptance in suburban streets.
Publications highlight her work on raingarden aesthetics, colonial landscape perceptions, and multifunctional urban landscapes. She has contributed to the adoption guidelines for stormwater biofiltration systems and explored transdisciplinary approaches in urban planning.
Scientific Contributions: Recognized for her book Limnology in Australia (Whitley Awards commendation, 1986) and her role as Chair of the Environment Committee at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.
Grants and Collaborations: Collaborations include CSIRO's Water for a Healthy Country initiative and projects with Monash's Water for Liveability Centre. Active in global south sanitation research through the RISE project.
