Mogens Kilstrup

Mogens Kilstrup is an Associate Professor at DTU's Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, specializing in microbial metabolic regulation and fermentation technology. His research examines bacteriophage genetics, nucleotide metabolism, and optimization of industrial bioprocesses.

Kilstrup leads projects on metabolic engineering of E. coli strains for human milk oligosaccharide production and phage-based technologies. His lab develops synthetic biology tools for improving robustness in large-scale fermentation systems, with recent focus on overcoming acetate formation and CO2 stress in bioreactors.

As Principal Investigator, he supervises PhD projects on fluorescence microscopy of microbial adaptations and regulatory network rewiring in production strains.
