Moena Omar is a Lecturer in Midwifery at the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare, University of West London. She holds a BSc in Midwifery (2017) and an MSc in Global Health and Development (2020) from UCL. Her professional background includes clinical practice and roles focused on Risk and Governance in maternity care, alongside serving as a PMRT midwife at Northwick Park Hospital.
Research Interests: Moena specializes in addressing perinatal and maternal inequality, with a focus on policy reforms and economic regulations impacting maternal and infant mortality rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has contributed to projects improving healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations, particularly through her work with MBRRACE on perinatal care for Black women.
Scientific Recognition:
- Selected to present research on maternal health policy impacts at the FIGO World Congress (2021)
Professional Engagement: Moena represented UN Women UK as a delegate at the United Nations 67th Commission on the Status of Women (2023). She also participates in panels addressing racial disparities in maternal healthcare.
