Benash Nazmeen is a migrant, midwife, mentor, and early career researcher working in Midwifery Education with a passionate commitment to addressing health inequalities and improving maternity services for both patients and healthcare providers.
Her research and practice focus on cultural competency and safety in maternity healthcare systems. She has co-designed and runs Cultural Competency and Safety Workshops for maternity healthcare professionals, which have been recognized as a case study of good practice for the NHS Equity and Equality Guidance for Local Maternity Systems (September 2021).

Her significant contributions to the field have been recognized through prestigious awards including Fellowship with the Royal College of Midwives, being shortlisted for the RCM Race Matters awards 2021, and winning the Ground-breaking Researcher award at the BAME Health & Care awards 2022.
