Meghan Luton

Meghan Luton is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery and Programme Leader for Midwifery at Middlesex University. She is currently pursuing a PhD focused on the maternity experiences of mothers who use British Sign Language (BSL), emphasizing health equity and accessibility.

Her research investigates communication barriers faced by deaf women during pregnancy and childbirth, advocating for inclusive midwifery practices. Her work highlights health disparities and the role of BSL in improving maternal care within primary care settings.

Her recent publication, "Deaf women's experiences of maternity in primary care: an integrative review," reflects her focus on accessibility and equitable healthcare delivery. She has received recognition for her work, including the Iolanthe/Royal College of Midwives Jean Davies Award and the Jean Davis Award for addressing health inequalities in maternity.
